  1. Adobe Illustrator Keyboard Shortcuts

View the official Adobe Illustrator Keyboard Shortcut list here.

Some shortcuts worth noting are any used for switching tools, anything used for accepting a choice like CTRL + ENTER on a PC to keep edits to a text box.

  2. Adobe Illustrator Text Special Effects

Adobe Illustrator offers an assortment of filters to select from to stylize your text in many ways (Note: in CMYK mode many filters are unavailable, but in RGB mode all filters are available). In addition to filters, you have specific text functions under the Type dropdown like: Area Type Options (great for laying out columns), Type on a Path (great for buttons and emblems), Threaded Text, Change Case and Type Orientation to name a few.

All text in Illustrator when converted to outlines creates paths that are identical to the original font, but without edit capabilities. Instead you can now directly select points on any path in the font and edit it as you would any other vector path.

Adobe Illustrator is much more powerful a tool for handling text than Adobe Photoshop.
